How to take the AC7 bus from Singapore to JB

The AC7 is a cross-border bus run by Ridewell Travel, plying Yishun Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) to JB Sentral via Sultan Iskandar Building. It is one of the cheapest and most reliable cross-border options for SG residents on the northeast side of the island.

The route

• Singapore boarding: Yishun Integrated Transport Hub (ITH), Berth B8
• Singapore exit immigration: Woodlands Checkpoint
• Malaysia entry immigration: Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI / Bangunan Sultan Iskandar)
• JB destination: JB Sentral (linked to City Square Mall, Larkin connection via short walk)

The AC7 has 26 stops in total but most of those are within Yishun for local pickups before joining the cross-border leg. Once it leaves Yishun, it goes direct to Woodlands Checkpoint.

Schedule

• First bus from Yishun: approximately 05:40 daily
• Last bus from Yishun: approximately 23:30 daily
• Frequency: roughly every 15–30 min during peak, every 30–60 min off-peak. Schedule fluctuates with traffic at the Causeway.
• Total journey time: ~46 min on a clear day; can stretch to 90+ min on weekends and holiday peaks

Fare and payment

• SGD → JB: SGD 2.50 by EZ-Link card; SGD 3 by cash
• JB → SGD: RM 6 by cash only
• Payment cards accepted on the SG side: EZ-Link only. NETS FlashPay, contactless Visa/Mastercard, and the regular SimplyGo experience do not work on AC7.
• Top-up your EZ-Link before boarding — AC7 does not have a top-up machine on board.

How the cross-border bus immigration works

1. Board AC7 at Yishun B8, tap your EZ-Link or pay cash
2. Bus drives to Woodlands Checkpoint — alight to clear Singapore exit immigration
3. Keep your ticket / boarding pass — you will need to board the next AC7 bus that comes by; it does not have to be the same bus
4. Pass through the Causeway by bus (you stay on the bus during the road crossing)
5. Alight again at Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) on the JB side to clear Malaysian immigration
6. Re-board AC7 (any next AC7) — final stop is JB Sentral

This “alight, clear, reboard” pattern is standard for all SG–JB buses. If your bus leaves while you are still in immigration queue, the next AC7 will pick you up — your ticket remains valid.

What to bring

• Passport (Singapore IC alone is not sufficient for cross-border)
• EZ-Link card with at least SGD 5 balance
• RM cash for the return journey (RM 6 per pax) and for incidentals in JB
• Singapore Arrival Card filled within 3 days before re-entry to SG
• Hand luggage only — overhead and floor space is limited; large suitcases are awkward

When AC7 isn’t the right call

• You don’t live near Yishun — getting to Yishun ITH from Marine Parade or Jurong eats the cost savings
• Peak hours — Friday evenings and Sunday returns can stretch 90+ min waiting in immigration; private chauffeur uses dedicated lanes
• Heavy luggage — for shopping runs to JB malls or hospital admission with bags, the bus is uncomfortable
• Group of 3+ — at SGD 2.50/pax × 3 = SGD 7.50 each way, a private 4-seater starts looking competitive once you add taxi/MRT to Yishun
• Going beyond JB Sentral — onward to KSL, Mid Valley Southkey, Bukit Indah, Iskandar Puteri requires another taxi
