Luxury MPV
Toyota Alphard
Cross-border luxury for families and executives — the gold standard for SG↔KL. 6 pax with 2 checked + 2 cabin bags.
See Toyota Alphard details →Eastern Batam's resort precinct sits 30-40 minutes from Batam Centre Ferry Terminal — beach, golf and spa with none of Nagoya's commercial bustle, and a shorter, cheaper run than Bintan for similar resort-tier weekends.
Nongsa is Batam’s eastern beach precinct — a quiet stretch of resorts roughly 30-40 minutes by road from Batam Centre Ferry Terminal. Where Nagoya is the loud commercial-shopping centre most SG day-trippers head for, Nongsa is the lower-volume coastal alternative built around four headline properties: Montigo Resorts (all-villa boutique), Turi Beach Resort, Holiday Inn Resort Batam and Nongsa Riverside. The pitch for SG weekenders is simple — a resort weekend that is both closer than Bintan and cheaper than Bintan for a similar tier of beach, golf and spa.
Nongsa occupies the north-east tip of Batam island, opposite the Riau Strait that faces Singapore. From Batam Centre Ferry Terminal it is a 30-40 minute taxi or resort-shuttle ride; from Nongsapura Ferry Terminal (used by some direct ferries) it is closer to 10-15 minutes. The character is the opposite of Nagoya — low-rise, beach-anchored, resort-focused — with the trade-off being limited dining and shopping outside the resorts themselves.
For broader Batam context — Nagoya shopping, ferry options, money tips — see our Batam island guide; this page is the Nongsa-specific deep-dive. For the alternative beachfront-luxury weekend that doesn’t involve a ferry, our Desaru water villas guide sets the mainland Johor reference.
Montigo is the Nongsa headline pick — 80+ standalone villas, every unit with a private pool, two-bedroom and three-bedroom layouts that sleep 4-8. Nightly rates run roughly SGD $250-650 per villa, which for a multi-family group splits into a per-couple cost that comfortably undercuts equivalent Bintan villa formats. Family-friendly with a kids’ club, plus restaurants, spa and watersports on site. The villa-only format makes it feel premium-boutique without the Sanchaya price tag.
Turi Beach is the established 4-star — 100+ rooms, multiple restaurants, two pools and the St Gregory Spa on site. SGD $130-280/night. The reliable mid-tier family pick with the longest beachfront frontage in the precinct.
Holiday Inn Resort delivers the international-chain 4-star experience — 200+ rooms, kids’ programming, family rooms and the brand-standard breakfast buffet. SGD $130-280/night. The default for SG families who want predictable resort infrastructure.
A quieter mid-tier set slightly back from the beach. SGD $80-180/night. The budget pick when Turi Beach and Holiday Inn fill up, or when the brief is “quiet weekend, light pacing”.
The single most useful framing for SG visitors is Nongsa-vs-Bintan, because the two precincts compete for the same weekend brief. Nongsa wins on travel time and price; Bintan wins on tourism polish and 5-star depth.
| Factor | Nongsa Batam | Bintan Resorts (Lagoi) |
|---|---|---|
| Distance from Singapore | ~20 km + 30-60 min ferry | ~50 km + 60-90 min ferry |
| Door-to-door each way | ~3-4 hours | ~5-6 hours |
| Resort character | Boutique villa + 4-star | Premium villa + 5-star |
| Indicative nightly rate (mid-tier) | SGD $130-280 | SGD $180-450 |
| Activity menu | Beach + golf + spa + Nagoya day-trip | Beach + golf + spa + adventure / mangrove |
| SG-visitor volume | Lower — feels quieter | Higher — the SG resort hub |
| Best for | Quieter weekend + Batam combine | Resort-anchored tropical-island weekend |
Treat the rate bands as guidance — they shift with seasonality and how far ahead you book. Nov-Feb monsoon discounts can run 20-40% across both precincts but sea-state cancellations rise.
Nongsa works on four pillars. Take one and the trip feels narrow; combine two and a 2D1N starts to make sense; combine three and you have a full 3D2N.
For the food side of a Nagoya day, see our Batam food guide. If you want to combine the Nongsa Batam stay with a Bintan leg, our Bintan and Batam combined itinerary guide walks the 4D3N twin-island shape.
The shape that works is 2D1N (Sat-Sun) for beach + spa, or 3D2N if you want to add a Nagoya day. Two legs each way: SG → HarbourFront (15-25 min drive), then ferry to Batam Centre or Nongsapura (30-60 min) plus resort transfer (10-40 min depending on terminal).
For the SG-internal leg, our short-distance pickup runs from SGD $25-45 in a Standard MPV (Voxy / Noah / Serena, 7-seat) — off-matrix, so WhatsApp for the quote. Couples on a Montigo villa stay can step up to the Luxury MPV (Alphard, Vellfire). Group of 8-12 on a multi-villa Montigo booking → Toyota Hiace 13-seater. See our fleet for the full capacity matrix and full-day driver for the return pickup at HarbourFront. Corporate-retreat groups should look at group bus rental for the 13-24 seat range and corporate account for billing terms.
Nongsa is the eastern coastal resort precinct of Batam island, roughly 30-40 minutes by road from Batam Centre Ferry Terminal. Door-to-door from a Singapore home it is about 3-4 hours each way — chauffeur to HarbourFront, 30-60 min ferry to Batam Centre or Nongsapura, then taxi or resort shuttle.
Montigo Resorts for villa-anchored couples or multi-family groups (~SGD $250-650 per villa). Turi Beach Resort for the established mid-tier beachfront family weekend (~SGD $130-280/night). Holiday Inn Resort Batam for the international-chain predictable family format (~SGD $130-280/night). Nongsa Riverside for the budget pick (~SGD $80-180/night).
Yes — typically 15-30% cheaper at the mid-tier comparison, with shorter door-to-door travel time (~3-4 hours vs Bintan’s 5-6). Bintan keeps the edge on 5-star depth and tourism polish; Nongsa wins on commute and price for similar 4-star beach-and-spa weekends.
Yes — 30-40 min drive each way. The classic 3D2N Nongsa shape is two beach-and-spa days plus one Nagoya shopping-and-eating day. For the food side see our Batam food guide.
Golf at Tering Bay or Palm Springs (~SGD $65-130 green fees), resort spa at St Gregory or Montigo (~SGD $40-90 per 60-min massage — see our Batam massage and spa guide), watersports at all four resorts, and the 30-40 min Nagoya day-trip for shopping and Indonesian food.
3-6 months ahead for SG school holidays and CNY peak — Montigo villas in particular sell out. 4-8 weeks ahead for SG long weekends. 1-3 weeks usually fine for non-peak weekends at Turi Beach and Holiday Inn. Mid-week stays (Mon-Wed) are cheaper and quieter.
Private chauffeur from your SG home to HarbourFront Ferry Terminal (15-25 min, from SGD ~25-45 Std MPV — off-matrix, WhatsApp for the quote), then 30-60 min ferry to Batam Centre or Nongsapura, then 10-40 min resort taxi or shuttle. Many resort packages bundle the ferry and resort transfer.
