Singapore to Kukup & Pontian: a private seafood day-trip

Kukup (Kampung Kukup) is a Chinese fishing village on the south-west tip of Johor, in the Pontian district. It’s famous for its floating seafood restaurants built on stilts over the water, where you eat fresh fish, prawns, crab and lala while the kelong — the offshore fish farms — sit just out the window. Affordable, relaxed, and a classic Singapore weekend run.

The catch is getting there. There’s no practical public-transport route from Singapore, so the comfortable way to do Kukup is a private car: a chauffeur takes you door-to-door, waits while you eat and explore, and brings your seafood and shopping home in the boot.

How far is Kukup from Singapore?

Kukup sits on the south-west coast of Johor, so the natural crossing is the Tuas Second Link rather than the Woodlands Causeway. From most parts of Singapore the drive is roughly 1.5 hours · +clearance — the border time depends on the day and the queue, which is why we don’t publish a bare drive number for cross-border routes. Plan your day with a buffer either side. Once through the Second Link it’s a straight run south-west through Pontian to the village.

How a Kukup day-trip is priced

Kukup isn’t a point-to-point airport run, so it isn’t a fixed-fare route. A day-trip where the driver collects you, waits through lunch and the afternoon, and brings you home is quoted as a day-rate — it depends on how long you’re out, how much waiting time you need, and any extra stops like Pontian. For that reason we don’t list a number here.

The honest answer is to message us with your group size and rough plan, and we’ll come back with our best rate: WhatsApp us for our best price. This is the same quote-on-request approach we use for our SG to Malacca and Muar day-trips. Cross-border vehicles for this route are MY-plated. If your return pickup falls late — between 11pm and 7am — a flat S$30 night surcharge applies, but a daytime seafood run almost never runs that late.
