Pengerang sits at the southeast tip of Peninsular Malaysia, in Kota Tinggi District. The town settlement most visitors actually stop in is Sungai Rengit, a former fishing village that has grown into a service town for the plants and a weekend seafood spot for those who make the drive.

Tourist appeal beyond seafood is limited, and that is the honest framing. Most of our Pengerang trips are corporate, contractor, or operations-related. How to get to Pengerang from Singapore

Pengerang is roughly 80 km away by road but takes longer than the distance suggests, because the route runs along eastern Johor’s coastal road rather than a high-speed expressway.

By private chauffeur (door-to-door)

From SGD 220 for a Standard MPV. We pick up at any Singapore address, clear via the Causeway (Sultan Iskandar Building), and drive east via Pasir Gudang Highway and Route 92. Total door-to-door is typically 1.5 to 2 hours after clearance. For executive solo visits, the Audi A6 sedan tier is the workhorse. For four to seven travellers, the Standard MPV is the right call. By passenger ferry (Tanah Merah)

A passenger ferry route also operates from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore to the Pengerang area. It is popular with non-driving visitors heading for seafood weekends. Schedules and operators have shifted over the years, so we recommend confirming the latest sailings directly with the ferry operator before relying on it for a work trip — onward ground transport from the ferry endpoint to your specific gate or hotel still typically needs a chauffeur or local taxi.

Tuas Second Link

Tuas is the wrong checkpoint for Pengerang. It adds about an hour over the Causeway routing because Pengerang is on the opposite (eastern) coast. We default to the Causeway for this run.

About 1.5 to 2 hours from the Causeway clearance point to Pengerang or Sungai Rengit, via Pasir Gudang Highway and Route 92. Total door-to-door from a Singapore address is typically 2.5 to 3 hours including checkpoint clearance.

Causeway or Tuas Second Link for Pengerang?

Causeway, every time. Sultan Iskandar Building is the natural crossing for east-Johor destinations. Tuas Second Link is on the wrong coast and adds roughly an hour for no benefit.

Can you bill against a corporate account?

Can the driver wait while we are on site at PIPC or RAPID?

Is there a ferry option I should consider?

A passenger ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal does run to the Pengerang area. Schedules have shifted over the years, so check directly with the operator before relying on it. For weekend seafood trips it can be useful; for tightly scheduled work visits, a chauffeur is more predictable.
