What is Yong Peng?

Yong Peng sits in Batu Pahat District, central-west Johor, almost exactly where the North-South Expressway crosses into the Foochow heartland. Most residents are Foochow Chinese, Mandarin is the working language, and the town’s hawker scene is the main reason Singaporeans drive up — distinct duck noodles, fishball noodles, kompia (a small baked Foochow bun), and lychee pork.

It is also a natural NSE stopover. The town has two interchanges, one heading north toward KL and one heading south toward JB, which makes it an easy break point on a longer drive. Plenty of weekend travellers pause here for a meal en route to Malacca or further north.

How to get to Yong Peng from Singapore

For a small inland town, the chauffeur run is by far the most painless option. Bus is doable but adds transfers; KTM does not serve Yong Peng directly.

By private chauffeur (door-to-door)

Pickup from any Singapore address, crossing at Sultan Abu Bakar (Tuas Second Link) and joining the NSE northbound. Drive time is ~1.5–2 hours off-peak. By cross-border bus

No direct Singapore-to-Yong-Peng scheduled coach. The closest path on the cross-border bus Singapore JB route is to clear at Larkin Sentral and pick up a Larkin-to-Yong-Peng coach onward. Total transit is typically 4+ hours with the transfer wait, and you still need a Grab on the Yong Peng end.

Not direct. The KTM Shuttle Tebrau only crosses to JB Sentral; you would still need an onward 2-hour coach or Grab to Yong Peng.

What to expect at Yong Peng
