Singapore to Bintan or Batam — 3D2N and 2D1N weekend itineraries

Two islands, two trip shapes. Here are the worked weekend plans, hour by hour, with the cost breakdowns and the ferry buffers that keep your return on track.

Singapore to Bintan or Batam Weekend Itinerary — 2D1N 3D2N Plans — Jumppy Transport

Bintan and Batam are the two no-flight Indonesian island weekends within ferry reach of Singapore — Bintan via Tanah Merah for the resort-and-spa shape, Batam via HarbourFront for the shopping-and-spa shape. They reward different planning. Bintan rewards a 3D2N at a Banyan Tree, Angsana or Nirwana Gardens-tier resort with the days built around beach, watersports, golf and spa. Batam rewards a 2D1N (or even a single-day) shopping-and-spa run anchored at Nagoya Hill, BCS Mall and the Lubuk Baja food strip. Picking the wrong shape for the wrong island is the most common SG first-timer mistake.

This page is the synthesis. It pulls together the seven companion pages in our Bintan/Batam cluster — the Bintan island guide, Batam island guide, Bintan resort guide, Batam shopping mall guide, Bintan ferry guide, Batam ferry guide and Bintan vs Batam guide — into hour-by-hour itineraries you can lift straight off the page, plus per-couple cost breakdowns and the seasonal windows that actually work.

TL;DR — Bintan/Batam weekend in 4 lines

Bintan 3D2N (Fri-Sun): luxury resort weekend at Banyan Tree, Angsana, Nirwana Gardens or Bintan Lagoon. Per-couple SGD ~$1,850-4,070 (premium tier); ~SGD $700-1,400 mid-tier. 60-90 min ferry from Tanah Merah.

Batam 2D1N (Sat-Sun): shopping + spa + dining anchored in Lubuk Baja. Per-couple SGD ~$490-1,050+. 30-60 min ferry from HarbourFront. Day-trip alone runs ~SGD $200-400/pax.

Verify visa-free 30-day status before each trip; e-CD customs form online; passport 6+ months valid. Sea-state cancellations Mar/Oct shoulder + Nov-Feb monsoon — book flexible/refundable and insure for weather.

We get you to the ferry terminal — short-distance Std MPV from SGD ~30-50. WhatsApp us; see our fleet, full-day driver and group bus rental.

Drive-and-ferry feasibility — the SG-side timing

Both weekends start the same way: get the party to the ferry terminal, clear immigration, board. The numbers that shape the morning:

Translation: a Bintan trip with an 11:30 AM ferry needs a ~9:00 AM home pickup. A Batam trip with a 9:30 AM ferry needs a ~7:45 AM home pickup. Build buffer; the ferry counter does not wait.

The 3D2N Bintan weekend itinerary (Friday-Sunday) — luxury resort

The classic Bintan shape. Friday afternoon arrival, full Saturday on-property, Sunday late-morning return. Anchored at a Banyan Tree, Angsana, Nirwana Gardens or Bintan Lagoon resort in the Lagoi precinct on the north coast.

Day 1 — Friday

Day 2 — Saturday

Day 3 — Sunday

Total on-island: ~46 hours over two nights. One watersports session, one full spa, three resort meals, two sunset windows. Comfortable, not rushed. Add a Day 2 morning golf round at Laguna Bintan or Ria Bintan if golf is on the agenda — push spa to late afternoon.

3D2N Bintan cost breakdown — per couple

Indicative SGD per-couple totals at the Banyan Tree-tier (premium villa). Verify before booking — resort packages, season and direct-vs-OTA bookings move the numbers.

ItemCost (SGD per couple)
Jumppy chauffeur to/from Tanah Merah$60-100 round-trip
Ferry round-trip (2 pax)$140-220
Hotel 2 nights (Banyan Tree, twin)$1,000-2,500
Spa couples package$200-450
Activities (watersports + tour)$150-300
Meals (3 days, in-resort)$300-500
Total per couple$1,850-4,070

Mid-tier alternative — Mayang Sari, Cassia, Bintan Lagoon, Holiday Villa — drops the per-couple total to roughly SGD $700-1,400. Family party of four sharing a Standard MPV chauffeur and twin family suites at Cassia Bintan or Nirwana Gardens lands at SGD ~$1,800-3,000 for the whole party. Premium ultra-luxury at The Sanchaya pushes the per-couple total north of SGD $5,000. Pick the resort tier first; the rest of the budget follows.

The 2D1N Batam weekend itinerary (Saturday-Sunday) — shopping, spa and dining

Batam’s value play. Day 1 is a heavy shopping-plus-spa loop in Lubuk Baja anchored at Nagoya Hill Mall. Day 2 is a final shopping pass plus food pickups before the early-afternoon return.

Day 1 — Saturday

Day 2 — Sunday

2D1N Batam cost breakdown — per couple

ItemCost (SGD per couple)
Jumppy chauffeur to/from HarbourFront$50-90 round-trip
Ferry round-trip (2 pax)$120-180
Hotel 1 night (Aston Batam tier)$80-180
Shopping (gifts/personal)$100-300+
Spa + reflexology$40-100
Meals (2 days, mid-range Indonesian)$80-160
Taxi within Batam (3-4 trips)$20-40
Total per couple$490-1,050+

The shopping line is the wildcard. Conservative gift-only budget caps at SGD $100; serious wardrobe-restock or electronics-haul trips push it past SGD $500. SG customs allowance is GST-free under SGD $500 (48hr+) or SGD $100 (under 48hr); declare anything over at the Red Channel and pay 9% GST. Cigarettes 1 carton; alcohol 1 litre; cooked food (sambal, rendang) generally OK in personal quantities.

Day-trip Batam alone — the no-overnight option

The cheapest Batam shape: Saturday 8 AM HarbourFront out, 7:30 PM HarbourFront back. ~3 hours round-trip ferry, ~5-7 hours on island, full Saturday gone but Sunday recovered. Per-pax total SGD $200-400 covering ferry, taxi, shopping, spa and food. Most SG residents do this two or three times before committing to a Batam overnight — and many don’t bother upgrading at all because the day-trip captures 80% of the value. See the Batam shopping mall guide for the day-trip itinerary in full.

The buffer rules — what saves your return ferry

The ferry-cancellation risk is real for both islands and gets dangerously underestimated by first-time travellers. Build the buffers in.

Seasonal windows — when to actually go

If you need a no-flight monsoon-resilient SG short trip alternative, look at our Desaru weekend itinerary (drive-only via Tuas, no ferry weather risk) or the Mersing-Tioman weekend itinerary for the comparable island-weekend product on the Malaysia side (note: Tioman shares Bintan’s monsoon problem and closes Nov-Feb).

The chauffeur leg — SG to Tanah Merah or HarbourFront

Honest framing: this is an SG↔Indonesia trip and our SG↔Malaysia chauffeur lane isn’t the headline event. What we do well on a Bintan or Batam weekend is the SG-internal short-distance run to the ferry terminal — door to Tanah Merah for Bintan, door to HarbourFront for Batam.

Ferry-terminal pickups aren’t on our fixed pricing matrix, so WhatsApp us with pickup address, party size and ferry slot — we will reply with a firm short-distance quote during operating hours (5am-11pm SGT). See our fleet for the vehicle-tier walk-through.

Common ways the Bintan/Batam weekend goes wrong

FAQ

Bintan or Batam — which weekend should I do first?

Batam day-trip first. It’s the cheapest, fastest way to test the SG↔Indonesia rhythm — ferry, immigration, e-CD form, taxi negotiation. Once you’re comfortable, book a Bintan 3D2N for the resort experience. The full breakdown lives in our Bintan vs Batam guide.

Is 3D2N enough for Bintan?

It’s the standard format and works well — Friday afternoon arrival, full Saturday on-property, Sunday late-morning return. Honeymooners and slow-pace travellers add a fourth day for a 4D3N. Day-tripping Bintan is not viable.

Can I day-trip Batam from Singapore?

Yes, easily. 30-60 min ferry plus 5-7 hours on island fits inside a single day. Many SG residents do Saturday Batam shopping-and-spa as a regular outing for SGD $200-400 per pax. See the Batam shopping mall guide for the day-trip itinerary.

What time should I leave Singapore on a Friday for Bintan?

Around 11:00 AM home pickup for a 1:30 PM Tanah Merah ferry. The Std MPV chauffeur takes 25-30 min; check-in counter wants 60-75 min before departure. Earlier morning ferries (8:30 AM, 11:00 AM) work too if you want a longer Day 1 — pull the home pickup back by 2-3 hours.

What does the chauffeur to the ferry terminal cost?

SGD $30-50 for a Standard MPV to Tanah Merah; SGD $25-45 to HarbourFront. Both are short-distance off-matrix runs, so we quote on WhatsApp once you share pickup address, party size and ferry slot. Hiace 13-seater for groups of 8-12; Luxury MPV (Alphard) for grandparents or the quieter ride.

What if my ferry is cancelled on weather?

Sea-state cancellations are real in Mar/Oct shoulder months and through Nov-Feb monsoon — Bintan especially. Always book refundable / flexible tickets, build a buffer day if your Monday commitment is critical, and travel-insure with weather + ferry-cancellation cover. Worst case: an unplanned extra hotel night on the island until the next morning’s ferry.

Do I need to declare anything at SG customs on the way back?

Goods bought overseas are GST-free under SGD $500 if you’ve been out 48+ hours, or SGD $100 if under 48 hours. Anything over: declare at the Red Channel and pay 9% GST. Cigarettes 1 carton per person; alcohol 1 litre per person; declare excess. Cooked food (sambal, rendang) is generally OK in personal quantities; avoid raw meat.
