Chinese New Year Cross-Border Transport — Singapore to JB & Malaysia — Jumppy Transport
TL;DR — Chinese New Year transport in 4 lines
One car door-to-door from Singapore to JB, Malacca, Muar, KL or your hometown — no changing vehicles at the Causeway.
CNY is the worst jam of the year at both crossings, so we plan the timing and travel the quieter hours.
Built for the family run — luggage, gifts, grandparents, and multi-stop visiting over the festive days.
Drivers book out fast over CNY — reserve early and we quote per booking on WhatsApp.

Chinese New Year is the single busiest stretch of the year on the Causeway and the Second Link. In the days before the eve, half of Singapore seems to be heading north for reunion dinner, and the queues can run for hours. Driving yourself means sitting in that with a car full of family and gifts; ride-hailing does not cross the border. We book a private chauffeur for the whole trip — picked up at home in Singapore, driven across, and dropped right at the family home, with the same driver and no mid-journey car swap.

What’s different over the CNY period

  • One car, door to doorFrom your flat in Singapore to the family home across the border — no unloading the family and the gifts at the checkpoint to find a second ride on the Johor side.
  • We plan around the jamCNY clearance can take hours at peak. We travel the quieter windows where we can, and the driver knows when the Second Link beats the Causeway and the other way round.
  • Built for the family runReunion dinner means grandparents, kids, luggage, and a boot full of mandarin oranges and gifts. An MPV or a coach carries the lot in one trip instead of a convoy.
  • Multi-stop visitingOpen-house rounds over the festive days — house to house, town to town — on one booking, with the driver waiting between stops.

Where we take you

Singapore families have hometowns all over the peninsula, and we run them all. Closest is Johor Bahru and the Johor towns — Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang — then up to Malacca, and the longer hauls to Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, and Penang. For the nearby crossings we quote a flat cross-border fare; the longer hometown runs are quoted per booking.

Cross-border vehicles are Malaysia-plated beyond Johor Bahru, so a single MY-plated car can take you all the way to the hometown and back without a change at the border.

Fares and booking ahead

We quote each trip on WhatsApp — the vehicle tier, the destination, the number of stops, and whether the driver waits all matter, and CNY is a peak period for both demand and crossing times. For a sense of the cross-border rates we work from, JB runs start around the Standard Car and Standard MPV tiers, with the full matrix on our pricing page; the longer hometown hauls to KL, Ipoh, and Penang are quoted per booking. Browse our fleet to pick a tier — a Luxury MPV for a six-seat family with luggage, or a coach for the whole clan.

Two honest notes. First, book early — drivers are scarce over CNY and the best dates go weeks ahead, so reserve as soon as your plans are set. Second, many families travel in the small hours to beat the jam; pickups between 11pm and 7am carry a flat midnight surcharge, which we show in the quote upfront rather than springing on you later.

How it works

  1. 1Send your dates and hometownWhatsApp us the travel dates, the destination, your group size, and any visiting stops. Reserve early — CNY dates fill fast.
  2. 2We plan the timing and vehicleWe match the right tier and pick the crossing and departure window to dodge the worst of the jam. A 15-minute pre-pickup ping lands before each leg.
  3. 3Door to door, tolls includedPicked up at home, driven across, dropped at the family home. Tolls and Causeway or Second Link clearance are in the flat fare on the owned tiers; any late-night surcharge is shown upfront.

FAQ

How far ahead should I book for Chinese New Year?

As early as you can — weeks ahead is sensible. CNY is the highest-demand cross-border period of the year and drivers book out fast, especially for reunion-dinner eve and the first few days. Once your dates are set, reserve.

How bad is the Causeway jam over CNY?

It can be hours at peak, particularly the day before the eve. We don’t promise a clearance time because it varies a lot, but we plan the departure window and the crossing (Causeway versus Second Link) to avoid the worst of it where we can.

Can you take us to the hometown beyond JB — Malacca, KL, Ipoh, Penang?

Yes. We run JB and the Johor towns, Malacca, and the long hauls to KL, Ipoh, and Penang. The car is Malaysia-plated beyond JB, so one vehicle takes you the whole way. See Singapore to KL chauffeur and Singapore to Malacca.

Can the driver wait for open-house visiting?

Yes. Multi-stop visiting over the festive days — house to house, or town to town — books on one trip with the driver waiting between stops. Tell us the rough itinerary and we quote it as a package.

What vehicle fits the whole family?

For six with luggage and gifts, a Luxury MPV; for a bigger group a 13-seater Hiace or a coach on a single quote. See our fleet for capacities, and remember boot space goes fast with festive shopping.
