Standard MPV
Toyota Voxy
Budget-friendly family MPV — great for short cross-border runs. 5 pax with 2 checked + 2 cabin bags.
See Toyota Voxy details →Western brunch, all-day breakfast and Korean egg sets at 30–40% below Singapore prices. Here is where to go and how to time the morning right.
JB brunch is its own category. Not the kopitiam breakfast — that’s a different page — but the Western-style and all-day-breakfast version: shakshuka, loaded bagels, ricotta hotcakes, eggs benedict, Korean scrambled-egg sets. Most spots cluster in Mount Austin, with newer ones popping up in Sutera Utama. The clean weekend shape is an early Causeway crossing, brunch by 9am, and either home or onward to a mall by lunchtime.
For Singapore residents, “brunch” usually points to Western-style mains served late-morning. JB has caught up to that definition over the last few years, with cafes that look and feel like the Tiong Bahru or Holland Village version, at noticeably lower prices. Mains land in the RM 25–45 range — the equivalent in Singapore is closer to SGD 18–35.
The geography mirrors the cafe scene. Mount Austin is the centre — Jalan Austin Heights and the streets around it carry the highest brunch density. Sutera Utama is the secondary cluster, quieter and more residential. Adda Heights has the Korean-leaning newer spots. For most first-time brunch trips, Mount Austin is the right answer; see our Singapore to Mount Austin route page for the geography.
Brunch trips suit groups of four to seven who want a single anchor meal and an easy morning around it. Couples work too, but the math gets sharper with a group, and the seating in most JB brunch spots is built for parties rather than two-tops.
Time it for off-peak. The clean window is weekend 8am–10am, before the local crowd arrives. 10am–1pm is the queue zone — popular spots run 30–45 minute waits, especially on Sundays. Some “all-day brunch” cafes stop kitchen orders by 2–3pm; if you’re a slow starter, double-check the kitchen close before you set off.
Not a complete list — JB has dozens of legitimate brunch cafes and the rotation moves quickly. These are the spots with the most consistent reputation as of 2026, weighted toward Mount Austin because that’s where the brunch density is.
Industrial aesthetic, Instagrammable interior, brunch menu that runs from loaded bagels to a spicy Thai chicken pasta. Mocktails are a category here, which is unusual for JB brunch. A solid first-stop for a Mount Austin morning.
Friendly kopitiam-meets-cafe space — Egg Mayo Toast, Half-Boiled Kampung Egg Set, Kopi-O. Wallet-friendly, lighter on the photo-led aesthetic, heavier on the actual food. The contrast move on a Western-brunch day, or the headline if you want a local-leaning breakfast.
Western-Asian fusion brunch — Beefed-up Shakshuka is the headline plate. Bright space, generous portions. Works for a group that wants one shared anchor meal rather than four separate orders.
Behind the namesake blue door on the second floor. Trendy matcha and pistachio drinks, with the Pistachio Cookies Mochi Croissant pulling most of the social-media weight. Slot it in as the drinks-and-pastry stop after a savoury first cafe.
Local roastery with a brunch menu that leans into ricotta hotcakes and eggs benedict. Coffee-first crowd, espresso done seriously. Multi-outlet, so easy to slot into whichever side of JB you’re already on.
Cosy Korean-style cafe, scrambled-egg-led brunch sets, quieter than the Mount Austin scrum. Worth a slight detour if you’re already heading toward Adda Heights or want to bookend the morning somewhere less crowded.
The early-morning fallback. Open round the clock, dim sum from before sunrise, popular with travellers crossing on the dawn run. Not Western brunch — a different category — but the right answer if you’ve crossed at 6am and need to eat.
Bagel-focused, RM 6–8 range, close enough to the Causeway that it works as either the first stop after crossing or the last stop before heading home. Small space, takeaway-friendly.
A clean brunch trip is built around the Causeway-crossing time. Pickup at 7am, clear immigration before the queue forms, and you’re at the table by 8:30am — comfortably ahead of the 10am crowd. One brunch stop is enough; the second is optional and usually a coffee-and-pastry follow-up rather than another full plate.
For the vehicle, a Standard MPV like a Toyota Voxy is the call for groups of four to seven, since brunch trips usually start as a group plan. A Standard Car is fine for a couple. JC dispatch pools vehicles within each tier, so we promise the tier, not a specific model. Cross-border chauffeur starts from SGD 150 (Standard MPV) for SG↔JB, all tolls and Causeway clearance included — most metered services tack on a +SGD 10 toll surcharge. We don’t.
If coffee is the headline rather than brunch, see our JB cafe guide for the specialty-cafe version of this trip. For a wider food day across multiple JB clusters, our JB food day trip guide covers the longer itinerary.
Yes — typically 30–40% cheaper for the equivalent Western brunch plate. JB mains run RM 25–45; the Singapore version is closer to SGD 18–35. The gap is widest on shareable plates and pastry; coffee alone is closer to flat after the conversion.
Mount Austin. Five or six well-regarded brunch cafes within a short walk of each other, which is the geography that makes a single morning workable. Sutera Utama and Adda Heights are quieter alternatives if you want to avoid the crowd.
For weekend brunch, leave Singapore by 7am to clear the Causeway before the morning surge. That puts you at the cafe by 8:30am, ahead of the 10am queue. Weekday brunch is more forgiving — anytime before 10am is fine.
Most spots are walk-in. The trending Mount Austin cafes don’t take reservations — first-come, first-served. The fix is timing rather than booking. Arrive early and you skip the queue altogether.
For four to seven people, a Standard MPV (Toyota Voxy class) is the right call. A couple fits comfortably in a Standard Car. Larger groups go in a 13-seater Hiace. See our fleet for the tier breakdown.
Easily. Mount Austin is close to Toppen, KSL City Mall and Mid Valley Southkey — a brunch + mall morning is the standard weekend shape. We can hold the same vehicle across both stops.
Yes — all cross-border tolls and Causeway clearance are included in our flat fares for Standard, Sedan, MPV and Hiace tiers. Coach is quoted as “from” with a final price by WhatsApp. See our pricing matrix, or our SG–JB taxi guide for the cross-border framing.
