JB Go-Kart Guide — Best Karting Tracks in Johor Bahru

Go-karting is one of the best-value adrenaline trips you can make across the Causeway. A 10-minute session in JB runs roughly RM20–79 depending on the track and kart — well under what a comparable Singapore session costs — and the variety is genuinely better: a 1.4km open-air club circuit, neon-lit indoor drift tracks, electric karts with F1-style steering wheels, and kiddy circuits where a five-year-old can drive.

Why JB for go-karting

Three reasons. Price — a session costs roughly a third to half of Singapore rates, so a group can run multiple heats without wincing. Variety — Singapore has a handful of tracks; JB has everything from a proper 10-acre outdoor club circuit to a double-storey indoor neon track. And convenience — most JB tracks are mall-anchored or within a 20–30 minute drive of a checkpoint, so karting slots neatly into a normal JB day of eating and shopping. Several JB tracks also run very late — until 2am at some venues — which makes an evening race session a real plan, not just a daytime activity. If you do race late, plan the return leg properly (more on that below).

Where the tracks cluster

Causeway side (east JB): Permas Jaya and Plentong hold the serious hardware — the big outdoor club circuit and an indoor drift track — with more karting at Desa Tebrau opposite Toppen Mall, AEON Bandar Dato’ Onn, and kiddy circuits at Mid Valley Southkey and Toppen. Second Link side (west JB): Bandar Medini Iskandar — the Legoland district — has two adrenaline parks with karting, plus an electric indoor track at AEON Bukit Indah. If you’re already doing a Legoland day or heading to Bukit Indah, a karting session bolts on easily.

The tracks — what each one offers

As of 2026, these are the venues that come up most consistently. Session prices and hours shift, so confirm the current rate on the venue’s social media or by phone before you go.

Permas Go-Kart Club (Plentong Circuit)

The serious one — a 1.4km open-air circuit on 10 acres in Taman Plentong Baru. Standard sessions run around RM35–47 for 10 minutes, and regulars can bring their own karts. This is where you go for actual racing lines, not mall entertainment. Open-air, so mornings beat the afternoon heat; weekends open from 8am.

RUD Karting (Medini)

A purpose-built 840m circuit with 16 corners and a 130m straight in Bandar Medini Iskandar, near Legoland. Basic karts from about RM55–79 per 10-minute session, twin two-seaters for parent-and-kid runs, and opening hours that stretch to 2am daily. On-site cafe. The polished pick on the Second Link side.

Evolt Karting (AEON Bukit Indah)

Fully electric karts with F1-style steering wheels on a 450m, 14-corner indoor track. Sessions around RM30–70 depending on package, live timing on the trackside lounge TVs. Indoor and climate-controlled, so it works rain or shine — and the electric karts are quieter, which some kids prefer.

DMC Karting — Drift Masters Club (Permas Utara)

A double-storey, neon-lit indoor circuit about 20 minutes from the Causeway checkpoint. Sessions from roughly RM30 for 10 minutes — one of the better value indoor options — and it runs very late (24 hours on some days). Popular with the night-race crowd.

GT Karting Entertainment (Desa Tebrau)

A 400m drift-flavoured circuit opposite Toppen Shopping Centre, open 4pm–2am. Standard karts about RM45–55, junior karts around RM45, twin karts for parent-child pairs about RM78. There’s a paintball arena on-site if half your group wants a different fight.

PLSC Drift (AEON Bandar Dato’ Onn)

The budget entry point — drift karts from about RM20 for a 5-minute session. Neon-lit garage aesthetic, short queues on weekdays, and quick sessions that slot into a mall visit rather than being the whole outing.

X Park Sunway Iskandar (Medini)

An adventure park with a covered karting track — fast karts and double-seaters around RM60–70, kiddie karts about RM30–35 — plus ATV rides, archery and paintball. Good pick when the group wants a full activity afternoon rather than pure racing.

KF Kiddy Circuit (Mid Valley Southkey & Toppen)

Which track for which group

• First-timers and mixed groups — GT Karting or Evolt; forgiving tracks, junior karts available.
• Families with young kids — KF Kiddy Circuit, X Park kiddie karts, or twin karts at RUD/GT.

Planning a JB karting trip from Singapore

The shape is simple: cross mid-morning or early afternoon, race for an hour or two (most groups run two or three 10-minute heats each), eat at the adjacent mall, and head back before the evening checkpoint peak. Which checkpoint depends on your track — Permas, Tebrau, Dato’ Onn and Southkey venues sit closer to the Causeway; the Medini and Bukit Indah tracks are Second Link territory.

Vehicle choice depends on headcount. For four to five, a Standard MPV like a Toyota Voxy is the right answer — one vehicle, one fare, helmets-off debrief on the drive home. For eight or more (birthday grids, stag runs), the 13-seater Hiace keeps everyone together. Cross-border chauffeur runs start from SGD 150 (Standard MPV) for SG↔JB, all tolls and checkpoint clearance included. Extra pick-up or drop-off points are +S$20 each, and pickups between 11pm and 7am carry a flat +S$30 — worth knowing if you’re racing at a 2am track.

Pitfalls and things to know

• Closed-toe shoes are mandatory at nearly every track. Sandals get you turned away; some venues rent shoes, most don’t.
• Height and age limits apply. Most standard karts need drivers around 140–150cm+; junior and twin karts cover younger kids. Check the specific track’s limits before promising a seven-year-old a race.
• Outdoor tracks and weather. Permas is open-air — an afternoon downpour stops play. Indoor tracks (Evolt, DMC, PLSC, KF Kiddy) are the wet-season safe bet.
• Weekend queues. Saturday afternoons at the mall tracks can mean 30–60 minute waits. Weekday sessions are quieter and sometimes cheaper.
• Prices move. RM figures here are 2026 ballparks — venues re-price and run promos constantly. Confirm on their socials before you commit the group.
• Late-night returns. A midnight finish at RUD or DMC puts your return in the midnight-surcharge window (+S$30) — cheaper than it sounds versus overnighting, but plan it deliberately.
